20 June - 19 July 2026

An exhibition is being held from June 20 to July 19, 2026 in the multipurpose auditorium of Bihar Museum. The title of this exhibition is - 'GAJA-LOK: Elephant Lands and Their Cultural Symbolism in Asia. Gaja-Lok invites you into the world of the Asian elephant, an animal that has shaped the imagination, politics and faith of this continent for over two thousand years. Few creatures have lived so closely with humans while remaining so wild. The elephant has been worshipped as a god, marched into battle, studied as a marvel of nature, carved into ivory and sung into folklore. To trace the elephant through Asia is to trace the story of Asia itself. Bringing together sculpture, painting, manuscripts, folk and contemporary art, Gaja Lok asks what we owe an animal that has given us so much.
